Nova Engine started on a Raspberry Pi 5 in St. Catharines, Ontario. No computer science background. No startup funding. Just a mobile barber who wanted to understand AI from the ground up.

Ten months of self-teaching later — Flask, Kotlin, Ollama, ChromaDB, ComfyUI, Cloudflare tunnels — Nova Engine v1.5 launched on Google Play on March 28, 2026, available in 173 countries.
